Press Release of the KCK 11.10.2011

Presidency of Executive Committee of People’s Union of Kurdistan (KCK)

The people of Kurdistan have protested in bigger numbers then previous years against the 13th anniversary of the International Plot which began on 9 October despite the attacks and all the efforts made by the AKP government to prevent people from protesting.

These protests, a resistance on their own, that took place both domestically and internationally   also rejected the unlawful and immoral isolation imposed on our leader APO by the AKP as well as the Imrali Torture System in general. The Kurdish people as a result have made it clearly be known that peace can only come with our leader APO's freedom. Our people has shown this resistance at a time when the March to Gemlik was banned and AKP's police forces were out hunting Kurds and terrorising our people. The AKP government has tried to weaken the protests by banning the March to Gemlik by the Kurdish people and its democratic institutions however the resistance shown by the patriotic people of Kurdistan succeeded in turning their plans around.

The country is increasingly turning into a police state and the police force of the AKP government is embedding a fascist system in Kurdistan. The police force attacks and oppresses our people and have the courage to shout at the MPs chosen by the people “I am the state, who are you?”. This is a clear statement of the situation on the ground: The Turkish state is a system of colonial oppression place above and against the society.  The police forces acting in the name of the state have intensified their fascist practices in order to intimidate the Kurdish people and to achieve a retreat in Kurdish politics. They have targeted especially the children and elderly women in their attacks ignoring Kurdish people's sensitivities. During these attacks only in the city of Mardin an elderly woman named Hikmiye Aktas and 7 children aged between 3 to 12 have been wounded. We hereby wish fast recovery to those who have been wounded by the fascist attacks of the police force and salute the heroic stance of the young ones.

The AKP government, whilst keeping the Kurdish people's leader under an aggravated isolation as a result of its devious special warfare implementations, targets the elimination of the guerilla forces through air raids based on the latest technology and supported by the ground operations. To this end the mountains of our homeland is being bombarded many times over each day, trying to turn Kurdistan into a living hell. The murderous and colonialist mentality of the AKP is behind these attacks and is trying all means against the Kurdish people and politics. The method they use can be formulated as “Don't kill but force their surrender through fascist oppressive methods”. AKP does not only try and eliminate the social movement of the Kurdish people through killing them but also through wide-spread tortures that now take place on the streets and by arresting them.

At this point in time there is a need for a resistance and social movement that shall end the inhuman practices that tampers with the Kurdish people's honour and pride offending the society as a whole. The people of Kurdistan have given a strong message through the comprehensive stance it has shown against the Imrali isolation and the International Plot. It is clear that the Kurdish people shall develop a continuous period of resistance by displaying its social will against Turkish colonialism led by AKP. It has thus become an important patriotic and humane duty for our people to organize themselves wherever they are and to strengthen their resistance, and owe up to its honour and leader in the face of attacks that target the will-power and free future of our people.

In this context, we call on the Kurdish woman  as well as on all the patriotic people to raise their resistance against this genocidal policies and for the courageous youth of Kurdistan to respond to these colonialist attacks by joining the guerilla forces and to bravely lead the uprisings wherever they are.

An important point in time has been reached in the freedom struggle of our people in the West of Kurdistan. However it can be detected that there is a new plan staged against the Kurdish people who are struggling for a “Democratic Syria - Democratic Autonomous Kurdistan”. On Friday, at the funeral of the Kurdish politician the leader of Al-Müstaqbel movement Meşal Temo four patriotic people have been killed as a result of the attack  carried out by the Syrian security forces. We offer our condolences to the families of the four martyrs and above all to the family of Meşal Temo and condemn such attacks that target our people's desire for freedom.

This attack is the beginning of a new wave of attacks in that area and aims to distort and create confusion in the systematic and consistent struggle waged in this part of Kurdistan. Despite this attack and other ventures we call on our people and Kurdish politicians to insist on the right policies and not to play into the hands of provocations. We also call on the Syrian state to immediately end attacks against the Kurdish people and to approach Kurdish people's democratic demands through appropriate policies. Everyone should know that it is not possible for any power to attain results through the use of violence before the legitimate claims of the Kurdish people. The demands of the Kurds; Democratic Syria with the right to self-governance of Kurds, are legitimate and right. There is no power who can attain victory through the use of violence in the face of these rightful and legitimate demands.

Dear Members of the Press;

In particular our people should be aware that a new and political struggle and leap forward has commenced and thus should strengthen its organization and target success on the basis of a high level participation.
