Press Release of the KCK 05.11.2011

Presidency of Executive Committee of People’s Union of Kurdistan (KCK)

The people of Kurdistan are welcoming the Eid celebrations at an important stage of the struggle for freedom and democracy. We celebrate the Holy Eid Holiday of the people of Kurdistan, our Leader Abdullah Ocalan, the mother's of our martyrs, all our comrades, and the Islamic World. We hope this Holiday is a means to fraternity and good tidings.

The attacks of Turkish colonialism, headed by the AKP government and Gulen Jamaat, are continuing their fascist practices in Kurdistan using all means including the use of illegal arms and military technology and have poisoned this Holiday period once again for our people. The earthquake in Van and the loss and pain in its aftermath as well as the fascist colonialist attacks of the army which have led to the deaths of guerillas, and also the wholesale arrests of politicians has prevented the people of Kurdistan from celebrating Eid in the proper manner.

All the patriotic people of Kurdistan must make this Holy Holiday a means for stronger solidarity, cooperation, alliance and national unity. It is not a coincidence that attacks have increased during the period when a part of Kurdistan has experienced a catastrophe. These attacks come at a historical time when the Middle East is being reshaped; the isolation and torture system against Leader Abdullah Ocalan on Imrali Island, attacks against the guerilla forces with the use of chemical weapons, police terror against the Kurdish people, and the political genocide of free Kurdish politics aims to weaken the Kurdish people, deprive them of their most fundamental human rights, deprive them of a status and reduce them to a slave people.

The Kurdish people must organise against all these attacks and end all internal resentments and disagreements to strengthen their unity and develop the struggle which they are capable of. We should not forget that the colonialist forces have recruited a circle of supposed Kurds, who have nothing to do with the Kurdish struggle and are traitors to their own people, and are using them to crush and annihilate the Kurds who are resisting. To end these traitorous plans the people of Kurdistan must make this Holiday period one of internal peace and unity. This stance is a duty for all patriots, humanists and represents the true calling of Islam. To stand against injustice, oppression and cruelty is one of the most important principles of Islam. This is why all genuinely religious, patriotic and honourable Kurdistanis must support the struggle against Turkish colonialism and the atrocities it is committing in Kurdistan.

We are calling on all the political, social, and non-governmental organisations in the four parts of Kurdistan to utilise this Holy Holiday in strengthening the national unity of the Kurdish people so that they can earn their rightful place amongst the peoples' of the Middle East at a time when the region is being reshaped.

Furthermore we are calling on all the democracy forces of Turkey and all circles who are in favour of the fraternity of peoples' to raise their voices and join in the struggle against the chemical attacks of the Turkish army, the attacks of the fascist Turkish police and the policies of genocide against Kurdish politics so that we can achieve the independent unity, equality and peace between the peoples' of Turkey and Kurdistan.

Finally we are calling on all the people of Kurdistan to lay claim to their fallen martyrs who were killed savagely in chemical attacks and to develop and strengthen their national unity against colonialism and all its forces. True Holy Holidays can only be celebrated in a democratic, equal, free and just system in a free country where colonialism does not exist, we must organise and develop the uprising and resistance to achieve this.

Dear Members of the Press;

In particular our people should be aware that a new and political struggle and leap forward has commenced and thus should strengthen its organization and target success on the basis of a high level participation.
